15 Weeks!

How far along: 15 Weeks
How big is baby:  Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple).  (babycenter)
This week's big developments: Baby is busy moving amniotic fluid through her/his nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her/his lungs begin to develop. Her/his legs are growing longer than her/his arms now, and she/he can move all of her/his joints and limbs. Although her/his eyelids are still fused shut, she/he can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she/he is likely to move away from the beam.

Total weight gain/loss: up 2lbs in the past month according to the hospital scale.
Maternity clothes:  My Friend Jennifer and her baby Mila helped me find some maternity wear!  I could not find any dressy capris to wear for work but found some yoga pants/ and jeans.
Sleep: This past week I have been extremely exhausted. Sunday night I went to bed at 9pm and woke up at 10:30am Yikes!
Best moment this week:  Hearing the heartbeat at our appointment, it was easier /clearer to hear this time! it was beating at 157, baby must have been excited!
Miss Anything: Cant think of anything right now.
Movement: Baby moves a lot but it is too early to feel it.
Food cravings: None really
Symptoms: Tired Sunday night I went to bed at 9pm and woke up at 10:30am Monday.
Anything making you queasy or sick: If I wait to long to eat I feel sick and almost throw up. I need to eat more / more often.
Gender: Unknown. We decided we will find out the gender of the baby when we have a gender reveal party the weekend after our ultrasound.  We will have ultrasound tec write the gender on a piece of paper and seal it in an envelope. Then we will give the sealed envelope to a baker to make a cake with either blue or pink depending on what the envelope says :)
Looking forward to: Each week baby growing and getting bigger :) Ultrasound Scheduled for Sept 16, I'll be 22 weeks along. I cannot wait to see our baby!
Interesting: My midwife asked if the tattoo on my foot what Hebrew and what it meant. I told her, "It means Gods unfailing love." She said she was a believer and has for some women during contractions read off bible verses of strength etc. I am so excited!!

I found this picture yesterday of me in the hospital with a full head of dark hair.

14 Weeks!

Hello Second Trimester!!!
How far along: 14 Weeks / 3.5 months (182 days to go!)
How big is baby:  Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, baby measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon (babycenter)— and baby weighs 1 1/2 ounces.
This week's big developments: Baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his/her thumb!
Total weight gain/loss: Have not weighed myself this week.
Maternity clothes:  Nothing new but I need bottoms badly. I hate how expensive maternity clothes are. I need to hit up some more garage sales but I am too lazy.
Sleep:  I am sleeping way better, getting up once or twice vs. every hour or so. I am also not feeling like I "need" to get in a nap during the day.
Best moment this week:  Nathan telling me my belly looks like it is sticking out more. He doesn't say much about it so for him to notice is a big deal to me.  Nathan has been wonderful! He is having to do the litter box, mowing the lawn (I tried this past week and it made me sore), and dealing with me being tired and having a messy house on top of working extra at work.
Miss Anything: Fruity alcohol beverages ;)
Movement: Baby moves a lot but it is too early to feel it.
Food cravings: I am back to enjoying coffee. I prefer it iced right now. I also will have a cup of diet root beer with my lunch.
Symptoms: Feeling stretching & pulling in my lower abdomen which tells me baby / uterus is growing!!! "The top of your uterus is a bit above your pubic bone, which may be enough to push your tummy out a tad" (babycenter).
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing this week.
Gender: Unknown
Looking forward to: Midwife appointment with Nathan on Tuesday. I love hearing the heartbeat at each appointment. I'm excited for Nathan to be able to hear it too!
Interesting: I dream about other people being pregnant, I have only had one dream about my baby/pregnancy since being pregnant.

Benz went swimming for the first time. He loved it!!

                   * Are there other things I should include in this blog that you would like to hear about?

Week 13

The weeks seem to be going by so fast! However I feel impatient and want to show / have a baby belly. My midwife told me since I have a long back (which is great for birthing) it also may mean I will take longer to show.

How far along: 13 Weeks- This is the last week of my first trimester!!
How big is baby:  Baby is almost 3 inches long (about the size of a pea pod / shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce.
Total weight gain/loss: I think I am up 5lbs
Maternity clothes:  Nothing new, I wear leggings a lot because they are comfortable. Sweats come one when I get home :)
Sleep:  Feel like I am sleeping better, not getting up at night as much. I learned if I take a shower or bath before bed my legs don't act up as much. I also am taking magnesium at night.
Best moment this week:  Attending Education session on ”Natural Rhythms of Labor and Birth.” It was great to hear a variety of experiences people have had in labor and birth. I love having information,  the more information I have the more confident I feel.  Thank you Jennifer for recommending this!  http://westernwichildbirth.wordpress.com/
Miss Anything: Not feeling bloated.
Movement: Baby moves a lot but it is too early to feel it.
Food cravings: Hot fudge and soup.
Symptoms: I get tired very easily, this week I started to get more headaches.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not this week, I did notice I have a hard time picking out things that actually sound good to eat though.
Gender: Unknown
Looking forward to: Getting a baby belly!

Bought this at a garage sale today, I love getting the newborn clothes :)

12 Weeks!!

We are pregnant!!!!!
(7.5 Weeks)

Finally we can let everyone know! It has been sooo hard to keep it quiet. However we didn't really keep it too quiet, at least I didn't. :)  Currently we are 12 weeks pregnant and baby is doing very well!

How we found out:
Thursday, May 9th 2013 I went to work and suddenly felt nauseous and had a headache. I went home to take a nap but first I took a home pregnancy test. It was 4 days before my period should arrive so didn't expect anything but since I am obsessive I took a test anyway. I had to read the test multiple times when it said "PREGNANT". I screamed and cried with joy! I immediately went to go get more tests since I only had one at home. On my way I called the doctor's office to schedule a confirmation (not sure what else to do). I went immediately in to the doctor. The urine test at the clinic came back negative. My doctor said to wait a week and take another test (yeah right me wait?!). I felt confused and sad. After my appointment I went  to see my mom Marrie since she was at work and I said with tears in my eyes "I got a positive test at home and a negative here." She immediately said "lets get a blood test." So they took my blood and I waited...and waited. The numbers were elevated 45 (25 or higher confirms pregnancy). In two days I was set to go back in and  have blood drawn again and the number should  double.

When i got home from the clinic, Nathan didn't know anything,  I put signs on Benz and Mercedes that said, "I'm going to be a big brother" and "I'm going to be a big sister again." Nathan walked through the door and read the signs and said "really?" and screamed. I explained the situation to Nathan.

Friday, May 10, I woke up at 5am and could not sleep. I took two pregnancy tests and both were POSITIVE. I immediately told sleeping Nathan. He thought I was weird for taking them but I needed as much confirmation as I could get.

Saturday, May 11, on our way to Celebrate Mother's day with Nathan's parents I had another blood draw. We got a call 30minutes later saying the number went up to 80, not as high as we would have liked which made us worry.  Monday, May 13, I had another blood test and it was at 153- That is more like it! I also missed my period that day.

It was a week of worry for us, it was weird because we didn't know if we should be excited or not because we didn't know how it would turn out. Thankfully things continued to progress.  Due to some spotting we had an ultrasound at week 7 to make sure everything was ok, and it was.

Week 10 we met with the midwife and were able to hear baby's heartbeat :) Mom (Marrie) came to the appointment with me so she got to hear baby too!

How far along: 12 Weeks
How big is baby: Size of a lime and weighs 1/2 ounce. (Length: just over 2 inches, head to bottom.)
Total weight gain/loss:
Maternity clothes: Yes I bought some at 8 weeks due to my pants feeling tight and uncomfortable. 10 /11 weeks I bought some more tops, some leggings, a pair of shorts and capris.
Sleep: Restless legs have been keeping me up some nights. I get up several times a night and some nights I need to soak my legs in the bath.
Best moment this week: Telling the majority of people we know about being pregnant.
Miss Anything:Not feeling nauseous, since week 6 I  have had terrible morning / all day sickness along with exhaustion.
Movement: nope
Food cravings: Simply Lemonade Raspberry and sour cream and onion chips :)
Anything making you queasy or sick: Dog food smell, 8 weeks I threw up from feeding Benz. Oh and also taking a photo of me in my bikini this week, don't do it...just don't.
Gender: Not sure, I really am hoping for a girl .
Looking forward to: Deciding if we are going to find out the sex of the baby. I want to find out and Nathan would not like to know.
