Another 2 weeks have gone by! Not much new going on. Micah has been sucking on his hands and arms more starting at week 9.
Mommy's Boy: Micah is defiantly a mommy's boy, which makes sense since I am with him all the time. I love how I can soothe him (the best) but it also means I don't much of a break. Daddy does a good job with Micah but he mostly just wants me.
Gas: Micah gets very gassy after he has been in the car for more then an hour. Which means he is uncomfortable and fussy. He then wants to lay on the floor or be held upright so he is not squished. We have been using gripe water.
YL: I signed up and placed an order w Young Living essential oils. I am looking forward to using them to help with Micah's gas, help prevent and treat colds, and to help sleep and sooth. They should be arriving Thursday!
Movement: His new thing is when we hold him is for us to stand and walk around-he likes to be moving. This might be due to all the car trips in the last few weeks..he may be used to being lulled that way.
Sleep: During the day he doesn't stay asleep when put down in his crib or rocker. I enjoy holding and snuggling him which may be why. I figure he is only little once and I want to hold and snuggle him as much as I can...you cant spoil a baby and patterns can be broken later. I mainly don't want others who watch him when I go back to work to have a tough time.
I am trying to find a way to help Micah fall asleep or stay asleep when put in his crib etc with out letting him "cry it out." I don't want Micah to feel abandoned. The approach I am thinking to try is when baby cries pick up soothe baby then place baby back in crib and do this each time. I realize I could be doing this many times initially. Have any tips / suggestions?
I have been trying to see if there is a pattern to his sleeping schedule. Some nights he is up every two hours and some nights he sleeps 4-5 hours straight. From what I can tell the more protein I eat the better he sleeps. I am trying to make sure I am eating enough. Last two weeks he has been sleeping great!

He is SOOOO Cute! What a little man. Getting so grown up :( I wouldn't worry about him being difficult to sleep for people when you go back to work, because he will adjust to whatever he is around. He will recognize that around Momma he is held to go to sleep, and may go to sleep just fine without being held wherever he is. Spoil that baby! They are only little once!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how breastfed babies bond with mommy. Both my boys were breastfed until weaning. They STILL prefer mom and still seek me out at night for cuddles, bad dreams, and any hurts they have. As my youngest grows older it is so bittersweet. Enjoy it!
