Hawes Family: Weeks 1 and 2

These first two weeks have gone by so quickly! I feel like I just gave birth to my sweet baby boy. It was exciting and nerve racking bringing our sweet boy home. Thankfully we arrived home right before it started snowing. We were lucky to have Nathan home for the first week. He took care of me while I was taking care of Micah. He made sure I had water, meals, and did the many loads of laundry. For some reason Micah kept leaking from his diaper and peeing when his diaper was off. I realized I may not have been putting the diapers on snug enough and then at first when his penis hit the cold he would urinate. Diaper changes the first few days were a bit traumatic because his circumcised penis was so red. He would cry ever time he would pee the first few days. I felt so bad for him.

The day after we came home my friend /photographer came over and took some pictures of our baby boy (which those on Facebook may have already seen). I appreciate so much other's talent for taking photos...I am not talented at taking pictures of people.

During our first few weeks we had family and friends visit and people from our church community bringing us meals! These meals were so helpful as I couldn't think to make food. My appetite was actually quite low.

Micah sleep varies depending how long he is held ..he could sleep all day if he is held by mom, dad, grandma, aunts or visitors. Typically he gets up ever two hours at night and is up till the afternoon at 7/8am. Then he takes a few hour nap around noonish. The evening time varies between awake and alert to sleeping. We try to keep him up as much as we can.
